I’ve always really enjoyed telling stories. The easiest way I know how to do this is to create videos. People consume content in the form of a video easier and it’s the best medium to spread a message to a wider audience. Over the past few years, I’ve created a number of well received videos, from self initiated to paid projects. Some examples include:
- a video to hire staff for a company
- review a dry topic and sprinkle it with some fun
- an application for a job
- review video for a climate protest
I’ve learnt a lot by creating these videos and hopefully improved my story-telling ability through the years. A lot of these examples were projects that were turned around in less than 6 hours and used very low quality footage. Techniques used to improve this included stablizing video, adding filters, color-grading and mostly letting the footage lead the creative process, rather than trying to jam footage into a preconceived style.
I actually really liked the challenge of using these parameters for the projects. The end result might not be a Cannes Festival entry, but the message can still resonate with its audience.
